VisitGuernsey launches online Love Guernsey campaign

In the early days of tourism to Guernsey, islanders used to be able to take ‘Ambassador Packs’ with them when they travelled off-island. The packs were basically Guernsey brochures that they could give to friends and people they met, telling them about Guernsey.

Last year  (2010) VisitGuerney revived the tradition by launching Love Guernsey credit card sized cards, small enough to pop into a pocket. These unfolded to reveal the highlights of a visit to Guernsey, namely our people, beaches, nature, weather, food and events.

This year the campaign returns with a different take on the tradition. LoveGuernsey.net is a new blog site that allows islanders and visitors alike to share their insights into why they love Guernsey and its closest neighbours Sark, Herm and Alderney.

Love Guernsey? Pass it on…

What do you love about living in or visiting Guernsey? Perhaps you have a favourite view, local restaurant, or a walk you take every day?

Whatever makes Guernsey special for you, VisitGuernsey wants to hear about it.

Suggestions, stories, photographs, video files, sound clips and even poetry and children’s drawings are all welcomed via a dedicated Love Guernsey e-mail address at: Love@LoveGuernsey.net. All contributions will be reviewed by VisitGuernsey and published on the Love Guernsey web page  -  www.loveguernsey.net.

What do you love about Guernsey?

How to send us your Love Guernsey contribution:

Step 1: Inspiration – feel the love! Decide what you want to say about Guernsey, Sark, Herm or Alderney. You can be as adventurous as you like or it could be as simple as a one-paragraph top-tip or a snap taken on a day out.

If you’re a creative type, poems, music, drawings or films that represent the Love Guernsey theme would be absolutely welcomed.

Step 2: Turn your idea into a digital file or email text: We can receive text, images, a sound recording or a video if it’s small enough to email. Or, if you like, a combination of files in the following formats (pretty much anything you can think of!): doc, ppt, pdf, jpg, gif, png, mp3, avi, mpg.

If your video is already online on a site like YouTube, you can simply send us the link.

Step 3: A bit about you: You can post anonymously if you prefer, but we’d like to give you credit for your valuable insights and creativity. If you can send us your name, a picture of you (no rude ones please!) and let us know a bit about yourself, we’ll post them alongside your Love Guernsey entry.

Step 4: Email it: Pop it all on an email and share the love – Love@LoveGuernsey.net

Step 5: Check out your post at LoveGuernsey.net. Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t appear instantly, we might have a bit of a backlog to get through, but you can sign up to the site’s RSS if you want to receive email alerts.
